The Exe estuary from A la Ronde

The views

A la Ronde enjoys a wonderful outlook across the Exe estuary to the east Devon coastline. Strategically placed seats in the grounds enable visitors to relax and take in the scenery. For the more energetic it's fun to walk around the meadow and view the house from a lower angle.

A compendium of garden games

Relax on the lawn with one of our free garden games. Grab a mallet and play some croquet or have a go at the giant game of snakes and ladders. Test your skills with the hoopla and steady your hand for a game of Jenga.

A wander through the meadow

Enjoy the gentle walk around the wildflower meadow, a fantastic way to see this unusual house from all angles.

The meadow is teeming with sights and sounds including the rare Corky fruited water dropwort and a multitude of moths and butterflies. Take a look at our two nature spotters and see what plants you can find.

An orchard picnic

Have a stroll around this beautiful orchard full of mixed fruit including apples and plums. There are also picnic tables where you can enjoy the fresh air as you eat your lunch.

Paws for thought

If your dog is thirsty after walking round the meadow just ask our staff in the tea-room for some water, they will be happy to help.

The water tower

Have a look at the water tower built to provide hot water to the first floor of A la Ronde, the height of Victorian luxury.
