Shells, feathers and cut paper combined with lichen, glass, mica, pottery, stones, bones and paint make up the astonishing decorations of the Shell Gallery. Said to contain nearly 25,000 shells, you can see the gallery in all its glory on this virtual tour. It is currently part of a major conservation project and by viewing the gallery in this way you can help protect this gallery and preserve it for future generations to enjoy.
View on a laptop or desktop
You can explore with your mouse, the control buttons on your keyboard or the control icons on-screen.
Using a mouse: Click and drag the cursor on-screen in the direction you want to look. If your mouse has a roller button, use it to zoom in/out.
Using on-screen icons: Click and hold the screen icons to navigate. The + (plus) and - (minus) buttons allow you to zoom in/out.
Using keyboard arrow keys: Press the arrow keys to navigate. The + (plus) and - (minus) keys allow you to zoom in/out.
Using keyboard tab keys: Tab through the on-screen buttons and hold down the space bar to navigate. Shift + tab will tab back to the previous on-screen button.
We suggest you don't use full-screen view while tabbing - depending on your browser, it can prevent tab buttons from working within the panorama.
View on a touchscreen device
For touchscreen devices, touch-drag your finger on the screen to explore and interact.
To start from the beginning again, click on the 'default view' icon.
You can turn the real location sound effects on and off by touch-clicking the 'sound effects' icon. You can toggle the 'auto rotate' icon on/off in the same way.
To hide the toolbar to display a larger screen image, touch-click the 'hide & show' button.
