During March 1,000 bags of Purple moor grass were carried by helicopter to one of the worst degraded parts of the internationaly important peat bogs. It took four days and ten National Trust wardens and volunteers to fill the bags and one and a half days to fly them to the site.

This year we've been carrying out major work on Abergwesyn Commons to protect the peat bogs from degrading further. Creating dams and covering bare peat with cut purple moor grass is just the start.

Wild fires have been a hot topic in the news recently and with good cause. When wild fires burn they can cause devastating damage to the environment and wildlife. We're doing work on the commons to try and prevent this from happening in the future.
