We have been working in partnership with npower since 2007.
Together we have created National Trust Green Energy, offering reliable, transparent electricity which is 100 per cent matched with renewable sources to supply to our supporters while helping to generate income via the Green Energy Fund. So far, National Trust Green Energy customers have helped to generate over £1 million for renewable energy projects at our properties, helping to ensure their security into the future.
Reducing carbon use
The Green Energy Fund is helping us to meet our own ambitious targets on carbon reduction and reliance on fossil fuels, as set out in our energy report ‘Grow Your Own’.
In addition to National Trust Green Energy, npower and the National Trust have created the Low Carbon Villages project, which aims to fight general apathy towards climate change and reducing carbon emissions from our homes. Npower supported this project with £600,000 funding, and provided energy efficiency advice to residents.
See our recommendations for starting your own low carbon community as well as the report and video of our groundbreaking Low Carbon Villages project.
