We’re making some improvements to Aira Force.

People have been coming to Aira Force for a nature fix since the 18th century. Increasing visitor numbers has resulted in some serious erosion in places and other areas have become overgrown and inaccessible.

Our improvement plan includes a new off-road path between Glencoyne Bay and Aira Force. We are reinstating historic footpaths, adding a new bridge to create another circular trail and improving the facilities and car parks.

We are also working in partnership with Ullswater Steamers and hope to build a new jetty on Aira Green which will allow you to leave your car behind at Glenridding and enjoy a cruise up Ullswater and a walk around Aira Force, before returning to Glenridding either by steamer or by foot.

We’ve started work already and hope to have most of it completed in time for next spring.
