Our sell-out event, Winter Lights, returns for its third year. Experience the gardens at night as we light them up with special effects, plus live performances, food, and plenty of mulled wine.
This year we have extended route and new installations and effects as we light the gardens for three weekends in late November and December. Highlights include the renowned Silver Birch Grove, the Riverside Walk and, new for this year, the front of the Abbey will have its very own light-fantastic display.

Redwoods Restaurant will be open throughout the evening serving hot drinks and warming winter food (jacket potatoes, soup, main meals and veggie options). Please note that due to the volume of visitors you will not be able to enter the Visitor Centre (including the Redwoods Restaurant) before the entry time on your tickets. Refreshments and toilets will be available in the car park.
Along the route, we will be serving delicious BBQ pulled pork buns and sausages, plus vegetarian options, along with hot drinks and some seasonal mulled wine in the Paddocks area. Further all along the route there will be roasted chestnuts and mulled wine.
Disabled parking, 50 yards
Adapted toilet at the visitor and near the House
Hard gravel paths around grounds and undulating terrain. Unfortunately we cannot let mobility scooters into the event, we do have five wheelchairs available to borrow - booking is essential, please call 01223 810 086 in advance.
If you are a keen photographer this is a great event to practise your skills at. We ask you to be considerate to other visitors about using tripods as they can cause a trip hazard, especially in dim areas. Stopping for long periods of time can also cause parts of the route to become blocked which will affect everyone’s enjoyment of the evening, so we may need to ask you to move on.
Our gift shop will be open selling a wide variety of gifts, perfect for Christmas presents, from scarves to picnic hampers, books to homeware make sure you also look out for Winter Lights themed gifts. Our second-hand bookshop will also be open during all of the sessions.
