Tourism Minister Arlene Foster has congratulated Florence Court on achieving a four-star rating under the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s (NITB) Visitor Attraction Quality Grading Scheme.
Welcoming over 40,000 visitors each year, this 18th-century National Trust mansion is one of Northern Ireland’s best known stately homes.
Arlene Foster said: ‘This four star status is well-deserved recognition of the high level of visitor experience and customer service enjoyed by visitors to Florence Court, with both the house and estate providing a wide range of unique and memorable experiences. As one of Fermanagh’s best known tourist attractions, it is particularly pleasing that the quality and merits of Florence Court have been recognised by the NITB.'
‘I applaud the staff and volunteers at Florence Court for their ongoing dedication to providing the best possible experience for visitors. By encouraging repeat visitors and enhancing Fermanagh’s reputation as a tourism destination, they continue to help boost the tourism revenue which makes a significant contribution to the local economy.’
The Visitor Attraction Quality Grading Scheme is designed to give visitors a clear idea of the standards of hospitality, service, cleanliness, comfort and food they can expect during their visit to an attraction.
To achieve a star-rating, attractions are subject to checks by a mystery visitor. Florence Court scored very highly in all areas, with the attitude and knowledge of the staff particularly impressing the assessors.
Caroline Adams, NITB Quality and Standards Manager said: ‘Consumers very much value star ratings in making their choices of where to go and what to see and do in Northern Ireland, and the standard of service is particularly important. With a large number of attraction operators actively participating in equivalent schemes in Scotland, Wales and England, it now makes sound business sense for visitor attractions to follow Florence Court’s example and become NITB quality assured.’
Jim Chestnutt, Property Manager at Florence Court, said: ‘The National Trust staff and volunteers are delighted that our hard work and commitment to making sure visitors have a great day out has been rewarded. As a four-star attraction we now look forward to sharing Florence Court’s excellent facilities, service and hospitality with many more visitors.’
