Throughout September and early October is the best time to pick these juicy fruits from hedgerows. Arm the kids with baskets and it won’t be long until everyone’s fingers and lips are dyed purple. Afterwards kids can tick off number 21 from our list of 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾. Gobble the blackberries whole or try making an upside-down cake, crumble or cheesecake.
