Explore the woodlands at Florence Court

We have five interactive programmes available throughout the year at Florence Court for Key Stage 2 pupils:

The Victorian house

Come and meet the cook and the housekeeper, and experience the life of a servant in the 'Big House'. Through a series of interactive activities pupils will have the opportunity to work as a servant, as Florence Court staff prepare for a family wedding. Duration 2.5 hours.

Water explorers

An investigation into the importance of water as a habitat and a precious resource. Pupils will spend time pond dipping and examining their finds. See how water was harnessed on the estate by our working sawmill, hydraulic ram and ice house. Emphasis on eco-systems, wildlife and human impact. Duration 4 hours.

Woodland explorers

An exploration of the importance and value of woodlands as a habitat for wildlife. Pupils will be investigating a leaf litter, tree identification, plant mapping, human impact and conservation. Duration 4 hours. 

Earth caretakers

A programme full of stimulating activities that teach appreciation, awareness and care for our planet. Topics include endangered species, food chains/pyramids, photosynthesis and our environmental footprint. Duration 4 hours.

Victorian Christmas crafts

By making handmade creations and meeting the cook in the Servants' Hall as she prepares for Christmas, pupils learn how the Victorians influenced our Christmas traditions. Duration 3 hours.
