A new book by Lonely Planet reveals the top 50 must-see world wonders, including our own Giant's Causeway.

The new book aims to explain how the wonders of the world were formed, their history and the remarkable stories behind their existence.

From the spectacular Giant's Causeway to the magical Potala Palace in Tibet, and the majesty of the Victoria Falls, the book details the history and creation of each of the wonders, providing the facts and scientific background to their creation.

On the Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland's only World Heritage Site, the book says: ‘Legend claims this rocky peninsula is the handiwork of an angry giant, but the real story behind the striking basalt columns is even more extraordinary.’

A range of media have also created their own lists, including the Daily Mail which lists the Giant's Causeway at number 3 on their list of ‘The Top 10 Wonders in the World’.
