Races in the North East
Many running races in the North East take place on land that we look after. Souter Lighthouse and the Leas finds fame every year at the finish line to the Great North Run. You could also find a new personal best at places like Gibside, Hadrian's Wall or on the Durham Coast.
Every year Run Northumberland hold a 10k race at Cragside in Rothbury. The circuit takes in the estate drive which passes lakes, weaves through woodlands and provides stunning viewpoints across the moors beyond.
This challenging race is entirely off road. It's worth the effort though as the scenic route takes in cliff tops with sea views and wooded denes. This year's race was in June. Keep an eye out for announcements for next year.
This half marathon race in June 2014 passed through some of the most scenic stretches of Hadrian's Wall - lots of which we look after. Keep your eyes peeled for next year's race details.
Perhaps one of the most famous half marathons around - the Great North Run - ends on The Leas, a stretch of coastline that we look after. If you're taking part - good luck! It's a great thing to be part of.
This October we're hosting the 19th Gibside Fruitbowl trail race, organised by the Blackhill Bounders. It's approximately six miles long through Gibside's lovely scenic tracks and paths.
