Autumn is a fantastic time to get out in the fresh air with your family. We’ve got loads of space for you to explore and tick off your 50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾. Whether you’re heading to the woods, down to the beach or staying closer to home we’ve got all the space you’ll ever need to create your own family adventure.

We’ve put together a wild walk activity sheet (PDF/2.7MB) with some of our favourite ‘50 things’ activities to tackle when you’re out exploring this autumn. Also look out for plenty of family-friendly walking events at our places including wildlife tracking, den building, night-time bat walks and even conker contests.

Take your pick of our family-friendly downloadable walks. We’ve chosen our favourite easy walks that are under 3 miles so the whole family can enjoy exploring the fantastic surroundings. Each walk includes a simple map, wildlife spotting tips, local lores and legends and places of interest. They are compiled by our rangers who know the areas like the back of their hands so they’re easy to follow. Simply add the ‘family friendly’ filter to the walking map to find a walk near you.

We’ve put together 10 great family walking spots for you to discover. There’s Malham Tarn waterfall with a secret cave where local legend tells us is home to the Queen of the Fairies. Or perhaps wildlife spotting with a ranger in the surrounds of the beautiful Purbeck Countryside is more your cup of tea?

Many of our places up and down the country are buggy friendly; there’s the Attingham mile walk and way-marked trails at the Giants Causeway to name but a few.
