The Friends of Ashridge is a group that supports the National Trust's Ashridge Estate.

It has evolved over time from the group that managed Ashridge Estate from its purchase and donation to the National Trust in 1928.

Now the Ashridge Estate is self-financing, so donations from the Friends of Ashridge are very welcome for the acquisition of extra equipment and services.

Members also contribute their labour and skills with many activities around the Estate. These include:

  • traditional tasks like scrub clearance and litter-picking
  • educational, technical, planning and visitor-facing activities that are rewarding both for the volunteers and save costs for the Estate

Anyone can be a Friend of Ashridge; membership is currently £8.

National Trust membership is not necessary but those who join the National Trust at Ashridge get one year’s Friends membership free. Volunteers who do enough hours also get free Friends membership.
