Finding the treasure

There is no better way of appreciating the special places we care for, than by exploring them on foot.

Which is why we are delighted to be working with Garmin to add fun and games to your walks.

Garmin has been pioneering GPS technology since 1989, and has sold millions of units around the world including running watches, cycling computers, in-car sat navs, marine and aviation navigators. They have  provided a range of GPS handheld devices to selected National Trust properties to give visitors a taste of using GPS to find geocaches, navigate and explore the great outdoors for free.

We’re working in partnership to introduce more people to geocaching, an outdoor adventure that will have you searching the great outdoors for hidden caches. With over 250,000 hectares of countryside and over 700 miles of coastline, we have the perfect setting for this high-tech treasure hunt. Thanks to Garmin’s support, we’ll be hiding, and finding, lots of new caches in our outdoor spaces.

Find your nearest National Trust place with Garmin GPS units available to borrow to try geocaching for free. Look out for Garmin banners and posters when you next visit.

Or you can download a free geocaching app for Android or iPhone.
