Q. I have a complaint, what should I do?

A: It is always better if you can let us know straight away. Most complaints can be sorted out quickly by a member of staff at the place you are visiting, and our staff will welcome the opportunity to do this if at all possible.

If it is not possible to complain at the time you can contact the National Trust by email, in writing or by telephone on 0844 800 1895.

Read our complaints procedure.

Q. Is the National Trust Government funded?

A. No. The National Trust is a charity completely independent of Government funding. We rely on the support of the public, through membership and donations.

Q. What environmental work does the Trust do?

A. We are committed to influencing the management of the whole environment, through development of best practice on our own land and also through advocacy of ‘green’ solutions to politicians, practitioners and the public. For more information, visit the What we protect pages.

Q. Where can I buy National Trust products?

A. You can purchase our quality National Trust products from our online shop, gift shops at our properties, or our high street shops.

Q. Where can I enjoy fresh local food and teas?

A. National Trust tea-rooms and restaurants are a popular stop at many properties and countryside locations. Visit our property pages to find a property near you.

Q. Is there a programme of events?

A. There is nearly always something going on at our many properties and areas of countryside and coastline. To find out about events in your area, visit our What's on section.

Q. Are there any job vacancies going at the moment?

A. All current vacancies throughout the National Trust are listed on our dedicated jobs website at www.nationaltrustjobs.org.uk. You can search for jobs local to you as well as finding out what it is like to work for us.

Q. What options are there for holidaying in or nearby National Trust properties and estates?

A. Go to our holiday cottages site for a full selection of our characterful and stylish holiday accommodation. Book online, by telephone or by post.

There are also National Trust camping and caravan sites, hotels and B&Bs in many spectacular locations. Or, if you'd like to experience something different, you could try a National Trust Working Holiday.

Go to our holidays section for a full range of opportunities.
