Living with the Trust

What made you want to live in a National Trust House?
I applied to live in Lacock in 2003. I have strong local connections with the village with all of my family living within the Lacock parish, as well as family already living in Lacock. While I was growing up I went to Lacock School, was also member of the Youth Group and Brownies and was also married at St Cyriacs Church in Lacock.
How did you find your NT house?
I registered on the Lacock lettings list and was informed by letter, however now you can also look on Rightmove to see the current National Trust vacancies.
What is your house like to live in?
It’s a wonderful house, and we love it. We knew as soon as we walked in we wanted to live here and make it our home. It has a lovely atmosphere.
How do you find the National Trust as a Landlord?
They are great landlords. We are left to live our lives, but they are always there if anything needs to be done.
Do you get involved with the local NT property?
Yes very much so, we attend lots of events socially and work related. I work at Wiltshire Scrapstore (which recycles materials that would normally go to landfill), so we help at some of Lacock Abbey events. And now we have been given the Tenant Custodian Card we can visit any National Trust property for free which we are thrilled to bits with.
What are your neighbours like?
Great, I have a pub next door and new neighbours the other side that are very nice. Lacock is very much a community where we all know each other.
Would you recommend being a NT tenant?
