A delicious twist on the classic apple crumble

  • 1 cooking apple
  • 250g blackberries
  • 250g autumn raspberries
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 250g plain flour
  • 175g butter
  • 75g granulated sugar
  • 50g porridge oats

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C Gas 6.
  2. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips. When the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs stir in the sugar.
  3. Peel the apples. Cut them into quarters and remove the core.
  4. Cut into large chunks. Put into a large baking dish. Add the sugar, raspberries and blackberries and toss gently.
  5. Cover the fruit with the crumble mixture. Bake for 20 minutes then reduce heat to 180°C / Gas 5 and bake for 30 minutes longer until the crumble is golden and the juices are bubbling through.
  6. Serve warm with cream.
