Bara Brith (with an Assam twist)


  • 8oz luxury mixed dried fruit
  • ½ pint hot tea (Assam gives a good flavour)
  • 6oz caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spice
  • 10oz self-raising flour
  • 1 egg


How to make your mouth water in four easy steps...

  1. Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin
  2. Add the sugar and spice to mixed fruit and pour the hot tea over the mixture
  3. Leave to soak overnight
  4. Add the flour and egg to the mixture and cook for 1 hour at 180ºC / 355F /Gas Mark 4

This is our special version of this classic Welsh tea bread. We recommend you make a pot of Assam to go with it. Try tea and cake in perfect harmony.
