Lemon drizzle cake


  • 2 eggs
  • 4oz margarine                       
  • 6oz caster sugar                               
  • 6oz self-raising flour                   
  • 4 tablespoons of milk   


  • 1 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons sieved icing sugar


People come from all over to sample our famous homemade Lemon drizzle cake at Aberdulais. Hailed by TV personalities, politicians, sportsmen and Hollywood film stars alike as the crème de la crème (even though there's not actually any 'crème' in it).

  1. Place ingredients in a bowl and mix to a creamy consistency            
  2. Put the mixture in a 2lb. loaf tin
  3. Bake at 180ºC / 355F /gas mark 4 for about an hour. For fan ovens, bake at 160ºC
  4. While the cake is still hot, prick the top surface and pour the mixture of lemon juice and sugar over, allowing it to soak in
  5. Leave in tin until cool
  6. Slice and enjoy the famous taste of Aberdulais Falls
