Fruit crumble recipe from Upton House

Puddings and cakes

Fruit filling:

  • 1 lb (455g) seasonal fresh fruit, (apples, pears, berries)
  • 3 tbsp sugar


  • 8oz (225g) plain flour
  • 4oz (115g) butter
  • 3½oz (90g) sugar


  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 celsius or gas mark 6
  2. Wash and prepare fruit (for apples and pears peel, core and slice)
  3. Place fruit and sugar in oven proof container
  4. Place crumble ingredients in food processor or mixing bowl
  5. Blend in processor or rub in using your finger tips to resemble bread crumbs
  6. Sprinkle onto top of fruit
  7. Top with a little extra sugar
  8. Bake for 30 minutes or until brown on top
  9. Serve with custard, cream or ice cream
