Our Through the Roof project will see us repair this delicate Nash roof

Our Through the Roof project is a chance for visitors to step behind the scenes as we carry out ambitious conservation and innovative construction to protecting and preserving the unique John Nash roof in the picture gallery. Follow the work with displays in the mansion, behind the scenes videos and specialist tours to see some of the damage we are trying to repair.

Blossoming after years of neglect: our Walled Garden restoration continues

Our conservation projects aren't just for our mansion: we're now five years into our project to re-discover and restore the Walled Garden, transforming a barren stretch of ground into the flourishing kitchen garden you can see today. In 2014 we'll be celebrating bringing blooms back into their own area of the garden, with a section newly-restored so that we can once more grow cut flowers to supply to the mansion and sell in our shop.

This section of the page features an image gallery, so if you're using a screen reader you may wish to jump to the main content.

Watch us work

Rather than hiding our work away, we like to show you conservation in action, and this year we’re throwing open our doors to show you what our conservation team are up to. Throughout May there will be chances to watch as we delicately dust the chandeliers, so come and enjoy a peek behind the scenes of our ongoing conservation projects.
