Step into our stories
Explore the mansion before the crowds and dig deeper into our past on a guided tour. Our tours vary daily, from tales of scandal to secrets of our conservation team, and places are limited. To book a place or find out what's on today, please ask at Visitor Reception on arrival - there's no extra charge and tours are available from 10.30am daily.
Scandals and spending
Attingham’s future was almost frittered away by the 2nd Lord Berwick, who married a courtesan over 20 years his junior and bankrupted the estate. Find out more about scandals and the family in our Bankruptcy and Berwicks in Brief tours.
Care and conservation
Peeling back the layers of the past is a tricky job—meet our experts and discover how we’ve been revealing our rooms’ hidden stories, and continue to care for the mansion on our Re-discovered tour. The last of the Berwick's to live here began this restoration process - discover the story of Attingham's rescuers on our Saviours tour.
As work continues on our roofing project we’ll be offering tours to see the work in progress—and onto the scaffolding to look at the damage we need to repair. Get up close to our grade one listed Regency roof and see the intricacy of the damaged decorations and the glitz and gold that we’re bringing back. To find out if our scaffold guides are in today, ring Visitor Reception on 01743 708154 - tours start on Monday 14 April.
If you’ve got a smartphone running iOS, why not test drive our guided tour app on your visit? Pick one of three guides from Attingham’s history and discover their stories—the app is free to download here.
