Manor room guides

The East front of Avebury Manor in Wiltshire.

Avebury Manor was transformed following completion of a joint project with the BBC to transform the interior of the Manor.

It was restored as an immersive experience: visitors can touch, sit on and enjoy all aspects of the house.  This year we will be opening for seven days a week for the first time from February to October.

We're therefore currently looking for volunteer room guides who can help create an informal atmosphere where visitors feel they are visiting the home of a dear friend.

We're looking for museum volunteers who are good with people, as most opportunities are visitor facing.

Someone who is enthusiastic, friendly and a good team player. You can also choose to help with Stone Circle Tours, office work, raffle ticket selling and events.

Volunteer car park attendants are needed at Avebury to support various events throughout the year.

This would include the summer solstice celebrations, but we need help at other events as well.

Reasons to volunteer with us

We'll give you all the training you need, with regular sessions to help you update your historical knowledge and training for new guides.

There are lots of opportunities to meet up with other people from around the portfolio with regular socials, trips and a Christmas party.  Creative types can also join our art group, or our sewing group.
