The Ride Play Café is Belton's indoor adventure play space.
Belton has long been famous for it's outdoor adventure playground and hundreds of thousands of children have played there over the year. But what about when it rains? The National Trust at Belton House opened the Ride Play Café in 2012 so that families with young children can enjoy adventure play whatever the weather.
Simply put, the Ride is all about adventure play - not soft play. We've recreated some of the best loved parts of Belton - from the Boathouse to the beehives, and had some fun playing around with scale so that the beehives are enormous and the boathouse is tiny! It's all built in solid timber as it would be if it were an outdoor adventure playground. We've joined it together with hanging walkways, cargo nets, slides and tunnels and added a smattering of outdoor noises and smells like grass and honey.
On quiet days there are lots of soft toys, bug costumes, books and puzzles to play with. And if your little ones aren’t big enough to enjoy the play equipment on their own - you can play too!
For the grownups we've included a very nice cafe which serves sandwiches, cakes, coffee and hot snacks all day. There's a separate menu for children too. So, while the little ones let off lots of steam you can relax over a cappuccino. There's plenty of seating in the café area or you can choose to take your family out into the courtyard for some fresh air.
Please note that at peak times a timed ticket system entry applies.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
