Donkey Green at Box Hill

Donkey rides were very popular at the beginning of the last century. In 1914 over a quarter of the income from Box Hill came from the concession for donkey rides on the Donkey Green.

Salmons Memorial at Box Hill in 1920

Salomons memorial at Box Hill's viewpoint was dedicated by Mrs Salomons on 16 August 1920. It is the best known spot on Box Hill and is now visited by nearly one million people every year.

Stepping Stones

The Stepping Stones were unveiled on 20 July 1932 after being erected by the Dorking Chamber of Commerce. They were removed during the Second World War but were put back in 1946 and dedicated by the Prime Minister, Clement Attlee.
