Fun for families

There's plenty for mini explorers to see and do on the estate.

Try out the Letterbox Trail on the blue walk, or for littler legs, the Look Out! Trail takes you around the yellow walk which is more pushchair friendly.

Visit the Willow Patch, where you can play on balance beams, tyre swings and more, and have a go on our new zip wire.

Get walking

There are four waymarked routes on our estate, varying in length from one mile to three miles. Tread in the footsteps of the monks as you explore the countryside, pause a while to admire the views across the valley, and simply soak up the tranquility.

Want to know more about the estate? Join one of the outdoor team on a guided walk.

Woodland

Walk amongst our bluebells with our warden on 1 May

We're gradually restoring the Great North Wood to its ancient self. Native broadleaves are replacing the conifers and the wildflowers love it.

Water

View of the Great Barn and Abbey from the Cart Pond

Watch for moorhen chicks on the pond in spring and see if you can spot newts or a frog. Follow the course of the River Tavy on the blue walk and keep your eyes peeled for a flash of kingfisher blue...

Wildlife

Wild roe deer at Buckland Abbey, Devon

Badgers, bats, eels, hobbies, barn owls and deer are only a few of the animals that live in the tranquility of our woods, trees and ponds.
