Salmon was fished for almost 400 years at Carrick-a-Rede. Look out for the lifting gear for raising boats and salmon fishing nets on the island.
Seabirds like guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars share living space on the island and the adjoining mainland.
In the water
Basking sharks, dolphins and porpoises are seen on a regular basis.
The West Lighthouse on Rahtlin Island is only 4½ miles (7km) from Carrick-a-Rede. Thousands of puffins are breeding there every year.
