Building closer ties

Castle Drogo is here for everyone to enjoy. Over the last few years we have been developing a diverse programme of events and projects to make Castle Drogo a vital part of the local community.

From providing inspirational school visits, to teaching new skills such as wood-work or den building, we have plenty to offer.

We want to continue making Drogo a resource for local people, offering our grounds as a breathtaking venue for community events such as fairs and theatrical productions.

Our plans for the future

Thanks to the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), we will be able to continue this work during our conservation project to save Castle Drogo. There will be fantastic opportunities for local people to get involved during this project including:

  • Apprenticeships and opportunities to learn new skills such as stone masonry
  • New volunteering roles including managing the scaffolding tower and providing guided tours
  • Collaborations with local businesses
  • A chance to get creative and help design our new displays and exhibitions
