Wander through rooms untouched for centuries, from the grandeur of the Fettiplace Room, a Jacobean 'best bedroom', to the Sheldon Room, cosy refuge of the last private owner Mrs Clutton-Brock. The great chamber and long gallery hint at past splendours, while the old kitchen holds the relics of 'downstairs' life.

Our stories
From hopeful beginnings in 1612, Walter Jones's great manor house, built on the proceeds of wool and the law, declined over the centuries. Passing through the Joneses to the Whitmore-Joneses and finally to the Clutton-Brocks in 1955, the cracks and cobwebs bear witness to the family's struggle for survival.
