Summer is upon us which means it must be time for the latest seasonal spotter.

This summer has been a good one so far, plenty of warm sunny days and the farmers are busy bringing in the harvest earlier than usual.

The chalk grassland is looking at its best at the moment with plenty of wild flowers in full flower and several species of butterflies taking full advantage, if you've not been out to see it yet then it's a must.

We also mention chalk streams in this summer spotter, a very rare habitat that often gets overlooked.

We hope you enjoy it and keep a look out for the Autumn spotter in a few months time.

Self led walk this summer

Looking to get out the house and blow away the cobwebs? Then why not try our free downloadable walk at Coombe Hill with the kids this spring?  This gentle 1 mile circular stroll takes in the best Coombe Hill has to offer from incredible views across the Aylesbury Vale to rare chalk grassland. There's also a Natural Play Trail to conquer, whatever your age may be.

While you are out on the walk, why not see if the kids can tick off a few 50 things to do before your 11 3/4?  It could be pretty windy so take a kite and practice your flying skills to complete no.7 or if the weather's a bit on the wet side, tick off no.6 run around in the rain.
