The Bradenham Bolt, the National Trust’s 10k new trail run event in the Chiltern hills near High Wycombe, is back by public demand on 21st September 2014.

Around 150 runners took part in last year’s inaugural event, described by one participant as “Brutal, but brilliant.”

The National Trust’s Chilterns Countryside rangers have created a challenging but fun-packed 10k trail through the historic Chilterns landscape. “The Bradenham Bolt was a great success last year. It’s designed for outdoor enthusiasts by outdoor enthusiasts,” says the main organiser Matt Shrimpton.

“The setting for the Bradenham Bolt is a mix of tall beech woodlands, rolling hills and fields but there are also surprises along the way,” says National Trust Ranger, Matt Shrimpton. “Runners can expect mud, hills, obstacles and most importantly, a good time. Bring along friends and family to cheer you on from designated viewing areas.”

Self led walk this summer

Looking to get out the house and blow away the cobwebs? Then why not try our free downloadable walk at Coombe Hill with the kids this spring?  This gentle 1 mile circular stroll takes in the best Coombe Hill has to offer from incredible views across the Aylesbury Vale to rare chalk grassland. There's also a Natural Play Trail to conquer, whatever your age may be.

While you are out on the walk, why not see if the kids can tick off a few 50 things to do before your 11 3/4?  It could be pretty windy so take a kite and practice your flying skills to complete no.7 or if the weather's a bit on the wet side, tick off no.6 run around in the rain.
