What's on

We are closing the house  for the winter on 2 November 2014, and will re-open our doors in March 2015. We work hard over the winter months doing necessary cleaning and conservation work, changing the displays and making sure we are ready to welcome you back next season. We've got some great behind the scenes tours planned for whilst we're closed, so take look at our events page

Step back in time

Join us inside the house for a step back in time. Marvel at the portraits, listen to the stories of our talking picture or just simply enjoy the beautiful interiors here at Claydon.

Winter walks

Our bubbling stream

The house is closed over the winter, but why not come and take a walk around the lake one morning. Spot shimmering spider webs as they glisten in the trees, or see which birds chose to stay and winter here.

Family fun

Autumn fun at Claydon

Children can dress up in period costumes in the Paper Room or try Florence Nightingale's bed for size amongst other things. There's always time to play games on the terrace or take a walk around the lake.

Perfect picnics

We've amazing views on the West Terrace from where you can take a stroll down to the lake. Why not stop for a picnic or perhaps bring a flask of warming soup and enjoy the stunning winter vista.

Our facilities

Making the most of the autumn weather

We've a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities for you to use during your visit to Claydon. We also offer you the opportunity to hire a hip or sling baby carrier, available on request at the front door of the house.
