Getting active at Clumber Park

Getting active and out and about on your bike, or with a walk or run, is the perfect way to explore the parkland, woods and lakeside views of Clumber Park. Accessible routes and woodland paths cover over 20 miles of beautiful trails through a variety of landscapes, offering routes for all ages and abilities to enjoy something new each time you visit.

Cycling

Our Cycle Hub is open from 10.00 at weekends, bank holidays and every day during Nottinghamshire school holidays.

Last hire is at 14.30 and all bikes are to be returned by 16.30.

We have a large selection of bikes for adults and children. Pre-booking is not available and hire is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accessible cycling

The VeloPlus wheelchair platform bike, which comes with pedal assist, allows visitors to remain seated in their own wheelchair and experience the wider park while their companion cycles.

The roam side by side bike, for visitors with physical difficulties, gives the rider full control and the passenger independent use of the pedals.

Booking is essential to use the accessible cycling equipment.

Cycle map

Our multi-user cycle trails extend over 20 miles across the estate. From shorter routes for beginners, to those a little more challenging for our experienced visitors, there's something new to see each time you visit. When cycling at Clumber Park, please give way to walkers at all times.

We have four recommended routes for you to follow or you can plan your own using our numbered marker points.

Be aware

If crossing the ford at Hardwick village, all cyclists must dismount using the mounting blocks and walk bikes across the bridge. For safety reasons, do not cycle through the ford or cycle across the bridge.

Running

Clumber Park has the perfect terrain for every level of runner to enjoy the park. The area is mostly flat with small inclines along many different routes across the 3,800 acres of parkland.

Organised running sessions

Parkrun, every Saturday at 9.00
A 5km, free, timed run. Register at www.parkrun.org.uk and don’t forget your barcode. Meet outside Central Bark.


Trust 10, fourth Sunday of every month, 9.00
A free 10k event made up of two 5k loops which will allow experienced runners to take in key vantage points and striking views of the Lake. Starts from the Front Field. No booking required.


Clumber Park Runners, every Wednesday at 9.30
If you are completely new to running, looking to ease yourself back into some gentle exercise or training for an event, this is the perfect group for you. New members always welcome. No need to book, just turn up on the day. Meet outside the Cycle Hub. Free to take part, admission into the park applies. To find out more about Clumber Runners, click here

Walking

Ranging from a quick stretch of the legs to a long exploration of the different landscapes of the park, there are a variety of walks suitable for all abilities. Follow our map here or be adventurous and discover the routes on your own. You could also try one of our top trails which can be found here.

We also offer regular guided walks to support physical and mental wellbeing. Details can be found below. Dogs on leads are welcome to join our led walks.


Pushabout, second Monday of every month, 10.15
A free walking group created for anyone who has or looks after pushchair-aged children. It’s a great way for mums, dads, grandparents or carers to get active, enjoy some fresh air and make new friends while looking after their baby or toddler. No booking required. Meet under the Clock Tower in the Turning Yard. Admission into the park applies.

Weekly dog walking social, every Wednesday from 10.00
Come along to explore the Park and enjoy a cuppa and a bite to eat in our dog-friendly cafe afterwards. No booking required. Meet at Central Bark. Free event, admission into the park applies.

Hardwick Village Evening Walkabout, first and third Wednesday of the month, 19.30
Explore the Hardwick area of Clumber Park. Walks are up to 3 miles and last around an hour. Free event, no booking required. Meet at Hardwick Village Social Club. If you haven't been on this walk before, please contact us on 01909 476592 for further details.

Nordic walking, most Thursdays during term time
Join Sherwood Nordic Walking for these group walking sessions to learn the art of Nordic walking and its many benefits. Easy on the knees and joints. Suitable for all levels / ages. Sociable, safe outdoor exercise. A great way to discover Clumber Park while keeping fit.

Meet in the main car park. Admission into the park applies. Sessions must be booked here

Discover Clumber Park, first Thursday of every month, 10.30
Led walk, exploring different landscapes and habitats. Walks are 4-6 miles and last 2-3 hours. No booking required. Meet at the Discovery Centre. Free event, admission into the park applies.

Monthly Family Dog Walk, first Sunday of every month, 10.30 - 12.00
Explore different areas of Clumber Park while meeting like-minded dog loving families. Treat yourself to a cuppa and a piece of cake in our dog-friendly café afterwards. Meet at Central Bark. Free event, admission into the park applies.

Sunday Walkabout, third Sunday of every month at 10:30 – 13.00.
Take in the sights of the park on a led walk. There's 2-3 different distances to choose from on the day, usually 3,5 or 8 miles. No booking required. Meet under the Clock Tower in the Turning Yard. Free event, admission into the park applies.


Horse riding

Horse riding permits are required to ride at Clumber Park. To apply for a permit, please contact the team on 01909 476592 or by emailing clumberpark@nationaltrust.org.uk

Navigating the ford at Hardwick village

If crossing the ford at Hardwick village, all riders must dismount using the mounting blocks and walk across the bridge while leading the horse through the water. For safety reasons, do not ride through the ford or ride across the bridge.


Fishing

Fishing only by members and pre-booked day ticket holders.

For the safety of all visitors, no water sports, including swimming, are permitted on the lake at Clumber Park.
