Our long-term volunteer placements generally run from September to the following June and include Assistant Ranger positions as well as a Visitor Experience Internship.

Catherine Barber studied Environmental Conservation at Sheffield Hallam University  'So far the experience has been interesting and challenging and I’m excited to be part of the team. I’m learning life and work skills from staff and volunteers who are insightful and willing mentors.' Catherine has now commenced a 3 year paid internship at another National Trust countryside estate.

John Mead 'I have no doubt that the placement succeeded in its aim of acting as an apprenticeship. Simply put, without this placement I wouldn’t have stood a chance of finding work in the countryside sector, but with it, I got a temporary contract with Lancashire Wildlife Trust. In other words, it works!' In 2013, John gained permanent employment with another National Trust estate.

Sarah Taylor 'My Internship with the National Trust in the Peak District has given me valuable experience in environmental education and events.' Sarah has now returned to university to finish her degree. Read more about Sarah's experience.

When available the positions will be posted on the Volunteer Search page. For details of upcoming posts and any questions, please email Rachel Mora-Bannon.
