Weddings at Dinefwr
Dinefwr Park is a hidden gem in the Carmarthenshire countryside. 'An oasis for British wildlife', 'a mythological land like walking through the pages of a novel'; are some of our favourite comments from visitors. In truth, Dinefwr is one of the most important sites in Welsh history. The laws of the land were codified here by Hywel Dda, the great Lord Rhys lived at the castle overlooking the glorious National Nature Reserve. A truly wonderful place for a wedding. But don't take our word for it:
Trip Advisor comments:
"A beautiful setting for a wedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful and ensured that the natural interest of other visitors was not intrusive. We all had a wonderful time with everything running smoothly. The picturesque setting was perfect for photos, i.e.the Fountain Garden etc.
The tea room staff supplied drinks and nibbles:- home made elderflower drink and the savoury mini scones topped with various savoury toppings, were delicious. These staff members were also very helpful with miscellaneous problems(stitching lace that had been snagged on my mothers dress!)etc.
Thanks to all for facilitating the smooth running of the wedding, we had a brilliant day".
Newton House is one of the main focal points of the Park. Built in the 17th century and now wrapped inside a Victorian Gothic casing, Newton House was home to the powerful Rhys family. It looks out over a stunning designed landscape park, now a National Nature Reserve.
Dinefwr Castle is linked to the Princes of the ancient kingdom of Deheubarth, the castle was the 12th century court of the great warrior and statesman, Lord Rhys.
The castle is owned by Cadw. Any inquiries for wedding photographs at the castle need to be agreed by Cadw. 01443 336000

The ancient and veteran trees on the property has been protected by one family for generations, some of the trees in the deer park are believed to be 800 years old. Why not lay some of your own roots at Dinefwr with a wedding at Newton House?
Dinefwr fallow deer
Over one hundred fallow deer graze the ancient woodland pasture in the medieval Deer Park, helping to sustain the rich variety of wildlife at Dinefwr. They are often seen grazing on the valley behind Newton House so you and your guest could do a bit of deer spotting from the fountain garden after the ceremony.
