Eating in the Downs Banks area
Although there is no food for sale at Downs Banks you don't need to go hungry.
Many visitors enjoy picnics on the hillsides, the valley or the woods. There are benches and picnic tables near the busiest paths.
Local food
There are many places to eat near Downs Banks.
Barlaston can be reached along the footpath from the north west corner of the Downs and has two pubs.
Local town, Stone, has a rich variety of places to eat, from gourmet restaurants to excellent traditional fish and chip shops.
On the first Saturday of every month Stone also hosts a Farmers' Market in the High Street, where locally produced food is available from many stalls.
The area is well supplied with shops
Nearby Stone has supermarkets and all the excellent shops you would expect from an English market town.
The High Street market has varying stalls on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The monthly Farmers' Market is held in the High Street on the first Saturday of each month.
Many other villages in the surrounding area have local shops, such as:
- Barlaston
- Tittensor
- Yarnfield
- Swynnerton
