Safari and tree tents at Low Wray

Camping in a safari tent or tree tent is a great way to reconnect with nature without the hassle of bringing loads of gear and wrestling with pitching a tent. Admittedly it does rain in the Lake District from time to time, but if you’re cosy in a safari tent or bobbing gently in a tree tent with a crackling fire – who cares?

Tree tents

These canvas tents look like giant tree decorations but are well hidden in the woods. You'll climb a ladder to a wooden platform and find your little nesting box complete with cosy woodburner and seating which turns into a comfy double and one single bed.

You'll be safely suspended in the trees and when your adventurous day is done, you'll be able to gaze up at the little sky window and enjoy the stars though the canopy of leaves whilst being rocked gently to sleep by the breeze. This is a truly magical experience that you'll remember forever.

Woodland safari tents

We’ve now got a small collection of five safari tents tucked away in the tranquil woodland area of the campsite. Ideal for families, they offer bags of space to relax both inside and out. With lovely wooden decking, you can survey the rich carpet of bluebells in May or spend hours just listening to the twitter of birds from the comfort of your camp.

All tents are fully furnished and have a wood burner and a gas cooking stove. Mattresses are provided but you'll need to bring your own bedding and you might want to bring a torch to navigate the path to the loo (it all adds to the excitement).

The new larger tents are suitable for up to 6 people with screened compartments – they include two bedrooms, one with a king size bed, the other is a twin with the option of a cabin bed for children. The two smaller safari tents are open-plan and contain a double bed and 1 bunk bed.

When can we book the safari tents for?

Bookings can be made for a start day of Friday or Monday and must be for 3, 4, 7 or 14 days.

Dogs

Safari tent prices

You can get an exact quote for your holiday when you search your dates online but a 3 night stay in a medium safari starts at £300 in low season rising to £800 for a 7 night stay in a large safari tent during the high season.
