Travel through the city to Beningbrough Hall and Gardens, pausing on arrival for a hot lunch available in the walled garden restaurant. 
Afternoon: Beningbrough Hall and Gardens 
Explore this grand Georgian mansion and find out more about life in this spectacular house. Take time to view the 18th-century portraits before going ‘below stairs’ to see the fully-equipped, Victorian laundry with wet and dry rooms. 

Turn your visit into a short break by adding:

  • a chance to explore the side streets of York
  • a trip further North to Ormesby Hall to discover the Victorian laundry and kitchen, with scullery and game larder

Stop en-route at:

  • Rievaulx Terrace, stroll through the woods then out onto the grass terrace that offers stunning views down over the Cistercian ruin of Rievaulx Abbey.
  • East Riddlesden Hall, an intimate manor house set in mature grounds with a duck pond and picnic area.
