We are a voluntary organisation formed 38 years ago to support and promote the work and principles of the National Trust within our region.

Our membership of around 300 drawn principally but not exclusively from South Lakeland welcomes new members who are members of the National Trust, affiliated organisations or a National Trust volunteer.
Our principal support to the Trust is fund raising, examples include; purchase of the Harpsichord at Wordsworth House, Cockermouth, support toward renovation of House exhibits and equipment for Townend at Troutbeck, to Fell Foot for VHF radios for rescue co-ordination on Windermere, stone wall renovation at Silverdale and gardening effort at Monk Coniston.
These examples show how widely we attempt to spread our support. To this end we organise an annual programme of talks, visits, walks, coffee mornings and a yearly holiday.
