Decorating for Christmas at Greenway

One of the highlights of the year at Greenway is decorating the house for Christmas.
Everyone joins in
The gardeners gather evergreen foliage from the gardens and a festive team of volunteers (assisted by eager members of staff) get to work creating door swags, adorning mantlepieces and making table decorations. Christmas tresses go up in the Drawing Room and the House Kitchen, as well as a show-stopping six-footer in the Dining Room.
We are lucky enough at Greenway to have some of Agatha Christie's Christmas decorations and Christmas cards as part of the collection. These add the perfect finishing touch to the Christmas trees and the cards get displayed in the hall.
When can visitors see the decorations?
In the run up to Christmas we hold festive feasts in the House Kitchen, where visitors enjoy two courses of seasonal lunch as well as a tour of the house. Then, from 27-31 December, 11am-4pm, Greenway opens for the holidays. Visitors can explore the house and walk off the excesses of Christmas in the gardens.
