Eating & shopping
Housesteads Visitor Centre has plenty on offer to help make your day special. We love inviting families, friends, groups and even your four-legged friends. There are seating areas where you can enjoy a cuppa and a snack. For the shop-aholics there's cards and books, to teatowels, garden kit and plants. There's even egg cups, mugs and of course - Roman memorabilia.
Did you know that every metre of Hadrian's Wall costs £100 to conserve and maintain?
Every penny you spend in the shop and café goes straight back into helping us protect and look after Housesteads and Hadrian's Wall Country Group - Allen Banks and Staward Gorge and Bellister Estate.
Without your support we simply wouldn't be able to protect these historical places. Thank you.
Perhaps you're looking for a gift, or would like something to remember your day, either way there are lots of goodies in the shop to ensure you can find that something a little different.
We have fantastic designs by Alex Clark, wonderful photographs and cards featuring local photographers Roger Clegg and Simon Fraser as well as National Trust jams and biscuits.
Hopefully the gardening weather will soon be making a return and we've got the perfect excuse to get the ball rolling. If you enjoy gardening like we do then why not take a look at the range of wonderful plants for sale? They are all grown locally and peat-based.
The stall is located to the rear of the Visitor Centre and a member of staff will always be happy to help.
