Magnificent wall and ceiling paintings
Painted by Sir James Thornhill at the beginning of the 18th century, these paintings depict the story of Achilles. We carried out major conservation work in 2010, and we're thrilled to be awarded an ICON award, which is nationally recognised. Thornhill went on to paint the dome of St Paul's Cathedral.

Twenty acres of stunning recreated gardens surround the house. They feature the intricately laid out parterre, fruit garden, grove, orangery, orchard and bowling green.
It's a great place to explore and have fun.

Groups are welcome to visit Hanbury. Please contact us for booking forms and to check availability. For groups of 15 and over, a discounted ticket price is available for non-National Trust members.
