Take a break in our courtyard tea room

Tea room

Situated in our cobbled courtyard on the site of the old kitchen, our tea room is the perfect place to relax after a long walk around the park or a tour of the house.

Enjoy hot and wholesome soups and jacket potatoes or light bites including sandwiches and paninis. Or, just stop by for a quick coffee and a slice of cake.

Family food

The restaurant serves a wide variety of hot and cold food including children’s lunchboxes and ice creams. Highchairs are available for young children and we're always happy to heat up baby food for you. Just ask a member of staff.

Picnics

Want to bring your own food? There are picnic areas with benches provided throughout the park. Look for the picnic bench marker on our map. Or, you can just throw your rug down on the lawn and enjoy the surroundings.

Munch buggy

If you’re out and about in the parkland and feeling a little peckish, keep an eye out for the munch-buggy. Selling drinks and snacks on its route through the park, you're sure to spot it near one of our picnic areas.

We’ve got great stuff for your garden on display in the centre of the courtyard. Find a rose like those in our Jekyll garden or choose a hand-crafted wildlife sculpture.

Courtyard history

The courtyard houses our shop and tearoom but originally this area provided vital services to the household.

It was home to the kitchen, stables, servants' quarters, coach house and laundry, all overlooked by the eighteenth century clock tower.
