Unearth Newcastle's forgotten past

For centuries the buildings here have been used to care for our community

The Holy Jesus Hospital is a real gem in the heart of a bustling vibrant city.

Now surrounded by roads, railway bridges and high modern buildings, the Holy Jesus Hospital survives as a symbol of how the people of Newcastle upon Tyne have cared for each other since the Middle Ages.

The site has been home to an Augustinian Friary, the Kings Manor, an early care home, a soup kitchen, a chemical factory, a museum and more.

Come and see what you think for yourself.
