Notice: Ickworth will be hosting the BBC’s Great British Story event on Sunday 20 May. We're delighted that they've chosen us. It'll be a great day out for all the family so come along and meet the experts to discover the past. Admission is free for the day. If you are looking to visit the house only, we suggest that you may want to come on another day when it’s a bit quieter.

A Georgian Italianate palace in an idyllic English landscape

Explore acres of space, woodland, wildlife, and a stunning architectural oddity, all with a story to match.

See how one eccentric man's passion for art, Italy and for having a party led to the creation of this remarkable house and its renowned collection of paintings, portraits, furniture and other treasures.

Through our Ickworth Lives project, learn about the servants and workers who kept this country estate running and share their memories. Discover what 'upstairs downstairs' domestic life was really like in our innovative displaying of the servants' quarters in the Rotunda basement.

Let your imagination run riot as you stroll in one of England's finest, and possibly earliest, Italianate gardens, and explore the intriguing Stumpery.

Go wild, amble or ramble in miles of beautiful woodland walks or even bring a bike.

Ickworth Lives comes to life

Volunteers had a training day with food historian Ivan Day preparing food in the 1930s style in the basement kitchen. They made rock cakes, rhubarb jam, suet pudding, ginger biscuits and steamed pudding, foods that the servants in the house would've enjoyed. Visit the basement on one of our special living history days throughout the year.
