Special living history days

Come and see one of our living history days, planned throughout 2012

You've seen Downton Abbey. Now join us for a special historic day and follow in the footsteps of Mr Collins the Butler, Mrs Sangster the Cook, the hall boys, kitchen maids and gardeners.

Bringing history to life

Ladies of the Ickworth Estate in the 1930s to 1940s

We've been working with East 15, part of Essex University's Acting School and West Suffolk College students, who'll become the servants who worked at Ickworth on our special open days.

Come and see them bring the basement to life with their costumed interpretation.

Summer arts and crafts in the park

Your children will love making these fun crafts this summer

Join us every Sunday in May and June, from 11am-4pm, to work with Karen Woods making fabulous art and crafts in the park.

Create marvellous mobiles of birds and flying insects, animal masks inspired by the animals at Ickworth, collect bark, leaves and fir cones to make 3D prints and enjoy fabric painting, printing and stencilling. See our Events for details of activities. £5 per participant.

Relay for Life

On Saturday 23 June, 12 noon – midnight, join us for entertainment throughout the day in support of Cancer Research UK. Thirty teams will pace the Relay for Life track for 21 hours to support the battle to beat cancer.

Join us for a great Jubilicious June at Ickworth

  • There'll be a Jubilee trail in the gardens, crafts on the lawn making fluttering flags and hats, flags, bunting and other jubilee inspired fun on the Jubilee weekend.
  • How about visiting our restaurant which will be decked out to celebrate the festivities and serving you lots of royal treats from coronation chicken to Queen Victoria sponge.
  • Celebrate with royal outdoor theatre, King Arthur and The Sword in the Stone and join the fun on our living history days in the basement.
  • You could learn how to make a silver spoon with our silversmith or come to a fascinating talk on silver with an amazing line up of speakers as part of Studio Silver Today.
  • And not forgetting lots of entertainment with Cancer Research's Relay for Life on 23 June where you're all welcome to come along and listen to the bands. It's a must come month of celebration.
