Discover more about the conversation paintings in our collection and what they tell us about the Hervey family. Little snippets of information brought to you from the 18th century.

Living history days

Join us for special living history days that show what life below stairs was like in the 30s as cooks, maids and footmen scurry around under the stern eye of the estate manager, head housekeeper and butler.

Conservation

Our team of conservators beaver away all year round to protect the house and collections from the endless threat of dust, light, bugs and people. Winter sees us getting deep and dirty with cleaning.

Who's who?

Heading up looking after our collections is Chloe Woodrow, our Assistant House Manager. We spoke to Chloe and asked about her work and what she loves about Ickworth.

Highlights

With so much to see, it would be impossible to take it all in during one visit. But there are some particularly interesting must see items to make your visit special.

We asked members of our house team which of their favourite items they'd list as the top ten things to see for a first time visitor to the house. Of course you may have your own favourites and find new ones each time you return, but check out our house team's selection.
