There are about 900 acres of parkland at Ickworth with marked parkland walks across the estate. Highlights in the park include our deer herd and our veteran trees, one of which is more than 700 years old.

There are 600 acres of woodland at Ickworth that are carefully managed by the forestry team. You can follow one of our woodland walks and visit one of our many woods.

Two lakes, more than twenty ponds and a river create a diverse wetland habitat network at Ickworth. These waterways provide a home for many species of wildlife. Why not visit the Fairy Lake or stroll along the River Linet?

Spring is a wonderful time of year and the gardens and park are literally coming to life each day. Already our snowdrops are out and the daffodils are pushing through the ground. The lambing season is upon us and of course nature is about to explode all around.

Wildlife survey volunteers
Wildlife survey volunteers
We have a dedicated group of wildlife survey volunteers who roam the more remote areas of the parkland to discover signs of wildlife activity. Even on cold and damp days there's something to see, not to mention a lovely walk in the park.

Building a bird hide
The Cambridge National Trust volunteering group visit us and built a new bird hide. Watch this fun time lapse video of their day.
You can visit the bird hide by following the footpath down by the side of the walled garden heading for the fairy lake. It's a lovely spot to stop and eat your lunch or simply pass a wonderful hour looking at the variety of birds and small mammals visiting. It's a real tweet!
