About Cutmadoc

Cutmadoc has a special position in the heart of Cornwall as the only holiday cottage on the Lanhydrock estate, with its house, gardens, woodland and trails all on the doorstep,  This private cottage has classically-styled interiors, which are all on one level, and the traditional rooms of this villa-style retreat look out over a delightful secluded garden.

Packed with charm and great for groups of friends or family, sleeping six in three bedrooms, the cottage has a lovely bright kitchen and a separate dining room. The sitting room opens out onto the veranda, perfect for balmy evenings, or when the weather is cooler you can simply curl up in front of the open fire. Outdoors, the mature grassed garden slopes gently away with a table and chairs for alfresco dining. Wildlife lovers will enjoy the nearby River Fowey, with the chance to see otters, kingfishers and dippers, just a short stroll down the lane from the cottage.

Make the most of the incredible Lanhydrock estate when you stay, and explore its ever-changing formal garden, full of year-round colour, and ancient woodlands with miles of footpaths to explore. Active types will also love the 5k Park Run and off road cycle trails with different routes to suite all the family and you can even hire a bike. Or take some time to wander the elegant Victorian family home inside the Jacobean mansion, once the home of the Agar-Robartes mining family and still full of stories today. If you’re there in the spring, look out for tiny palmate newts in the Victorian swimming pool, which we’re helping to protect with funds from your holiday.

Once you’ve taken in the sights of the estate, you have both coasts just 40 minutes away. Head north to the surfing beach of Polzeath and the bustling harbour villages of Padstow and Port Isaac for a wander, or a day at the beach. Closer to home you’ll find all the amenities you need in the town of Bodmin, where you can also pick up the 18-mile Camel Trail. Head south and you can take time out at the Eden Project, enjoy the coast at Lantic Bay or wile away an afternoon in Lostwithiel.
