Leigh Woods is a great place to go for a run.

Our well-maintained paths are perfect for a gentle jog or a more vigorous run. Try our Run England 3-2-1 routes for a self-led run. You can also join our feel good Friday running group which is perfect for those new to the sport or looking for a great social activity. The second and fourth Friday of every month, starting on the 16th January, at 9.45am meet at Leigh Woods office on Valley Road. You can drop in and register at any session and head out for a run for £3. You will be issued with a loyalty card which after 12 runs will earn you a free NT t Shirt. This is an off road/trail run using the woodland. Terrain will be slippery when wet and uneven, participants are encouraged to run at their own pace and will not be left behind!

Cycling

Yer tiz mountain bike trail

Yer Tiz 

The Yer Tiz trail in Leigh Woods is a moderate blue grade, engaging trail weaving its way through the woodland.

The trail requires a mountain bike but is suitable for relative novices. In places the trail splits, giving the option of the more difficult red grade Gert Lush trail.

Sustrans cycle route

There is a blue Sustrans cycle route which goes through our woods and connects to the Bristol to Pill cycle path (Towpath). The route is on a surfaced path with some steep slopes and is ideal for cyclists and walkers. It's approximately 1.4 miles long and takes around 40 minutes to walk.

Leigh Woods is a very important site for wildlife. Although it's great fun to ride off the official tracks, it is damaging to some special plants and animals. Some species are only found here, including some low growing plants. These are easily damaged by bikes, please stick to the surfaced trails.

Try a trail

Leigh Woods is a great place to come to walk or run. You can choose from a variety of way-marked trails according to your ability. Try our one-mile gorgeous woodland wander.

We also have a permanent orienteering route. You can download an orienteering map or pick one up from our office here in the woods.
