Conservation is the careful management of change. It is about revealing and sharing the significance of places and ensuring that their special qualities are protected, enhanced, enjoyed and understood by present and future generations.

The key aims of our conservation work are:

  • Sharing our knowledge and passion with society at large.
  • Presenting our places, their features and collections sympathetically and appropriately.

  • Enhancing understanding and learning by providing access.
  • Giving enjoyment by offering space for pleasure, discovery and inspiration.
  • Protecting physicallly and through expertise and continuity.
